Heatilator

We build these Custom Made Heatilators for your wood-burning fireplace. The pipes heat up and return a percentage of heat back into your room without the smoke. They work by convection and can raise average room by a few degrees. No sense burning wood and having most of your heat going straight up the chimney. We have a basic model but they can be custom made to your fireplace specifications.

The pipes themselves can reach over 200F. The upper tubes have a baffle at the end to allow heat to build up in the pipe to create nature pressure hence a blower fan is not necessary (although that would likely help too)

We measured room temp without the device with the fire burning the room was 69-70F degrees on a cold night. After installing the device we warmed the same room with the same type of fire log, up to 76F

Our diagram shows cooler air being sucked in from the bottom and hot air escaping from the top. Circled in yellow is a safety feature to ensure your log doesn’t roll out.

This was designed so the top pipes extend outside the FP by about 6inches. This ensures the recaptured heat ends up in the room not in up the chimney. However it means you cannot close your steel curtains. We can make them flush if you like to close the curtain.

In testing we found using a store bought fire log, they don’t snap crackle and pop so we like to leave the curtain open. The curtain actually blocks some of the ambient heat. However if you are burning dried wood that pops, you might opt for a flush mounted system. Let us know which you prefer.
